I imagine in heaven God will uniquely and intimately greet each of us, even much more profoundly than our earthly father would have; had we returned home from a long difficult journey.

And someday when God calls Jeremy finally home, rather than come to him, I imagine He will utter very gently but with great summoning power (like Aslan in Narnia) the words, “Run to me my child!” And for the first time since his accident Jeremy will run!

And I imagine shortly into his race to his Father he’ll hear footsteps coming from behind him and a voice laughing with pure joy never heard before on earth. It is His savior Jesus joining him on the one and only race Jeremy was truly made for. The race to his Father’s arms! All the earthly races were just practice.

Finally I imagine Jeremy asking Jesus why he was laughing. And Jesus responding, “You didn’t give me time to take off my sandals.”

Imagine this is how much Jesus loves us!
